CFY’s Innovative Learning Awards

We were honored to be joined by Julius Genachowski, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, who presented CFY’s Visionary of the Year Award to Blair Levin for his work on the National Broadband Plan. While presenting the award to Blair, Chairman Genachowski praised CFY as a “model for nonprofits” and honored Blair’s professional achievements (Click here to read the Chairman’s prepared remarks).

During his remarks, Blair Levin spoke about the impact CFY is having on the families we serve saying, “CFY is the leading light in bridging those most at risk of falling behind with the new world of digital learning through that ethic of serving others.” CFY also awarded Tabula Digita with the Family Learning Software Award for Evolver, which Ntiedo Etuk, Tabula Digita’s CEO, accepted.

Pamela Lopez, the mother of Natalie Rodriguez (a CFY student), was honored as CFY’s Parent of the Year. It was truly a special moment when we all shared in the mother-daughter embrace that took place after Natalie finished reading the essay that nominated her mother as Parent of the Year. In her essay, Natalie also spoke about how the CFY program helped her in school and enabled her family to learn together.

We are honored to have the support of leaders like Chairman Genachowski, Blair Levin, and Ntiedo Etuk, and parents and students like Pamela and Natalie. We are equally grateful for the generosity of our supporters across the country.
