What We Do
CFY leverages technology to enable:
- Students to take charge of their learning.
- Teachers to make learning more engaging within the classroom and to extend learning beyond the classroom and into the home.
- Parents to become more powerful learning partners with their children and to enhance their home learning environment.
We start from the perspective of the student at the center of the learning process with the teacher and the parent in supporting roles. We then harness the power of digital learning through a range of interrelated activities to strengthen the outcomes in the learning process:
- We curate the best digital learning activities available so that students, families, and teachers can have a trusted source for selecting these resources.
- We make digital learning activities easily accessible and usable via our K-12 learning platform, PowerMyLearning, so that teachers, parents, and the students themselves can customize learning to meet specific needs.
- We partner with more than 100 high-poverty public schools via our Digital Learning Program which provides training for teachers, students and their parents along with a free broadband-ready home computer loaded with educational software and 24×7 bilingual help desk support. We start with the entire sixth grade class at the school, and then, year after year, provide all their incoming sixth grade students, teachers and families with the training and home technology access required to extend classroom learning into the home while deeply engaging parents.
- We engage in advocacy efforts to promote the important role of digital learning in uniting students, teachers, and families in the effort to improve educational outcomes.
