Student Software Team

“Students are our most important customers and we care about and value their feedback. There are no better judges of educational software and video games than the children who use them every day. The students in the CFY program were among the best consultants we have had review our programs. We would be proud to work with CFY students again—their input was invaluable.”

Each year CFY assembles a group of students from partner schools to help us identify great educational software. This software team tests software packages and online resources for their educational value and engagement score. Recommendations from the team directly affect the software included on our Home Learning Centers as well as the sites included on PowerMyLearning.com.
The children are typically in grades 6-8 and range in age from 11-13 years. They are largely from low-income, minority backgrounds. Participating students analyze and rate software titles according to specifications and metrics developed by CFY’s research team.
Student Software Team members:
- Learn to evaluate software
- Participate in team-building activities
- Learn to make public presentations about software and provide feedback to industry executives
- Receive coaching from industry mentors
